Researching Australian Souvenir Pennants

I am researching the origin and history of Australian felt souvenir pennants.
If you have any information or leads on the history, manufacture and/or production of pennants your assistance would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Annette Shiell

Hi, Annette, I have about a dozen odd penants about the same age of yours (60’s?) including Kirra,
Southport and other places on the East Coast. I don’t know much about them sorry, but I woudn’t mind knowing a bit about them myself, including if anyone is interested in buying them and what they are worth. Any info would be appreciated and if I find out more I will tell you. Thanks, Rik

Hi Rik
Annette is not a valuer or a collector of these in a formal way. Her interests as a museum curator include textiles, hence she helped out with this project based on a collection that was handed in by someone. So probably can’t help in the way you want. I will see if any of our member/dealers can advise. ESA

Hi
I have a collection of these type of felt pennants, I actually have the same one for Bega as in the picture at the top, the only difference mine is more a chocolate colour rather than maroon.
My question is how would I find if anyone is purchasing these things. They were all purchased in the late 70’s, some are fabric, some seem the be a type of plastic, some are from Europe and some from all over NSW. I think I have about 30 that are around 30cm long, a few small ones and about half a dozen that are about 60cm long.
Thanks
Jodie
