On 20 September 2024, we held our Annual Meeting coming up (a formal notice of that meeting was emailed or posted to you). Don’t worry if you missed it, there is another one next year.

Retirements/opportunities
At that meeting our long-time Secretary Garry James retired. The wonderful news is that Lyndel Walker, well-known to many of you, has volunteered to take on the secretary role. This coincides with the start of our new improved database which will also improve communication.
At the Annual Meeting in August 2025 Edwin Jewell our only and very long-time Treasurer will retire and I (Mandy Bede) our less long-time President will retire in 2026.

Between Garry and Edwin there are 70 or 70 years of service. They have performed many other tasks for the Society, but we will cover them in other ways. It is the traditional Secretary, Treasurer and President roles that we are looking to fill.
A detailed description of the tasks involved can be supplied to any interested member.
We need replacements for these positions if we want the Society to continue. (It’s a requirment of the Incorporated Associations Act – yes??!!)
If you would like to find out what is involved, please let us know. All retiring folk will do a detailed handover/work with you for say six months
We believe the future of our Society is at stake.
Changes to the Society rules – office holders restricted to three successive years
Its hard to change the Model Rules, which the Society follows. But we can follow our own proposed Model Rules.
Taking on a role like treasurer would be less daunting if you knew you were only offering a three-year stint. Shall we give this a go? For further discussion send Mandy a question via email amandabede2@gmail.com. Ed will be AWOL until March.
