THE ESA JOURNAL WAS POSTED OUT IN JUNE 2021, AND IN IT EACH MEMBER WILL FIND A BOOKMARK. The bookmarks are courtesy of the Estate of Amy Turner and via ESA member Elizabeth Willis. if you have’t received your journal with the waratah cover, let us know via the comments’ box below.
The bookmarks were a timely gift as the journal includes an article about Wendi B’s collection of contemporary bookmarks. There is much to admire and debate in bookmark design:
- do they need to be longer than the height of the book?
- should the pointed end be the top or bottom of the bookmark?
- what should they advertise or promote other than bookshops or libraries?
There are some common themes for bookmarks – including birds. Here are three nice examples from Nunawading, USA and Sydney.
