Some great news! I am now the proud owner of a 1979 edition of the ‘Australian Pictorial Diary’.
I persisted with my queries of the publisher, Australian Jaycees. Eventually, one of their committee members referred me to a lady who is in charge of the organisation’s archives. A couple of weeks later she had the time to search the archives. The following extract from one of her e-mails paints the picture nicely …

The JCIA storage room is about 3 meters by 6 metres… it is dusty and not tightly sealed from the elements. There are cobwebs and other evidence of animals. Boxes are stacked on top of each other and have been shoved in there hoping they will fit. Most boxes fall apart when you go to pick them up. There is no rhyme or reason to the “filing” system. So today when I embarked on the “diary search” adventure I truly did not hold much hope in finding a copy of the 1979 Pictorial Diary….
However… the first box… picked at random… contained a copy of the 1979 Pictorial Diary!! … “My experience is a good lesson that persistence begets good luck!
