ADDING VALUE, the website attracts comments and further information about posts. Here is a terrific additional information about a New Zealand artist.
From Alison in New Zealand:
I have been looking at your website and saw that you had some of my mother’s gift wrapping paper, ‘New Zealand flower studies’ by Marie Turnbull. My mother painted botanical water-colours all of her adult life. She died in 1989 of a heart attack, aged 71 years. A terrible loss to her husband, family and friends. That paper on your website was made using paintings she had done for the NZ Save The Children Fund to use for cards and paper. She did many others as well – as a gift to the charity. Her flower specimen paintings were sold widely in NZ – as original wall paintings, and on many different items such as writing paper, cards, playing card sets, decorated soaps, tea towels etc.. Most were sold by the Save The Children in their shops. My mother was a wonderful artist; gardener; a farmer’s wife; mother of 5; rep. golf player; embroiderer; and all in all a very inspiring woman. It was lovely to see that someone had collected some of her paper.
