THERE IS SO MUCH TRAVEL EPHEMERA, and here is a nice selection of luggage tags.
Superseding the baggage label, just as air travel superseded travel by sea, these tags don’t function as a mini poster as the gummed labels did in the middle of the 20th century. But these simple tags still promise excitement for the traveller who has travelled less in the last Covid years. Whoops the Banff tag is for a train trip – on the Canadian Pacific. And the trip might be by the bag alone as there is a fee to be paid on collection.
Even in this small group we have variety: three with a metal ring inserted to ensure no tag loss; three with a reinforced hole; four have loops of elastic to make attachment easier; the Barbados sticky band might be the most recent of the tags; Air Canada is a card to be slipped into a name holder that the traveller keeps on his/her bag.
