WE HAVE ADMIRED 19TH AND EARLY TO MID 20TH CENTURY DANCE CARDS, here is a reminder that they were in use at least until 1981 at Monash Uni bush dances.
Some of the format is unchanged: cover with the event name and date (although identifying the musicians is an innovation); inside the dances and a place for your partner to be nominated. The back is another innovation with a description of a particular dance and then a step by step guide (pun intended). The Cobbers were a well-known band.
Interestingly these were rejected as a donation to the State Library of Victoria, maybe they already have them?
