Ken Piesse, one of our cricket experts who regularly exhibits at our fairs, has a very rare brochure on sale at our autumn fair on 22 May: the 1932 Australians to America brochure featuring the great Don Bradman. It was produced by the Illinois Cricket Association for the game in Chicago in late July 1932 and is slightly taller and wider than an ABC Cricket Book .
Ken says this is one of the rarer pieces he has seen and while the centre spread is not intact, it is complete. He rates the brochure including the covers as a strong 7 out of 10 condition wise.
The Australian team included the Don, Victor Richardson, Stan McCabe, Chuck Fleetwood-Smith and the manager Arthur Mailey.
Ken’s springtime book A Pictorial History of Australian Test Cricket includes some wonderful ephemera, borrowed from some of our leading collectors who are regulars at our shows.
Grand Collectables and Ephemera FAIR at the Parkview Room, Camberwell Civic Centre, Camberwell, Victoria. It’s on Sunday 22 May 2016, 10 am to 3pm. Early bird entries for members 9.15 am (you can join on the spot).
