Beyond the Quill: writing for the masses – Lyndel Walker worked for over 40 years in the stamp trade, including 10 years with the famous Stanley Gibbons Ltd. She has been a collector of various things over her lifetime and developed an extensive collection of china, especially Royal Doulton, which included a few inkwells, and later many different types of inkwells. Lyndel also branched out to ink advertising, and pen nib advertisements and boxes.

In Search Of The Tasmanian Tiger – A collecting journey -Phil Edwards was born in the UK and came to Australia as a child. He quickly discovered a love of the bush and the local wildlife. He went on to study and work in the Science field. Now semi-retired he works on his bush block and his collecting interests which include birds, spiders and marsupials, on cards, ephemera, badges, tins, port bottles, labels etc. Phil collects memorabilia of the Tasmanian Tiger, with a particular focus on the images from the time prior to the species being declared extinct.

Antarctica History through Postcards – Tony Shields is a long time collector of a range of Antarctica items. Human history in Antarctica coincides with the invention and worldwide popularity of postcards. The first ever photos of Antarctica available to the public were issued as postcards by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition in 1900. A plethora of expeditions of scientists and adventurers followed over the next 30 years. This postcard presentation will give you an overview of some of the extraordinary stories that resulted.

3D Magic: Lenticular imagery in ephemera -Wendi Bradshaw has several ephemera collections including, books, bookmarks, labels (many types) and travel ephemera. Over the past few decades another incidental collection conspired to squeeze into her world – 3D imagery. Also called lenticular imagery, these magical three dimensional images grace many ephemera items – from postcards, bookmarks, children’s toys and more. This is a small selection from some more nostalgic artifacts, still around today.

Light Playing on Glass – Rob Beer has been a member of the Mornington Antique Bottle and Collectables Club for the past 20 years. During this time he has been president and vice president of the club. He has collected many Melbourne and Victorian manufactured bottles from the earliest days to the 1980’s. His collection holds bottles ranging from, black glass to clear bottles with coloured printed labels.
