Also promoting their DJs and other shows with personality presenters and competitions. The 3XY Rockwords looks to be a version of bingo but you can only write on the grid when you hear the track played:
3XY was canny with promotions: directing programming to school kids with the exam theme; a logo that incorporated jeans and a disc; and using the term Rocktober.
Sometimes, later in this sequence to cross promote – likely without any consultation – with the artists. The connection with a chiko roll and Billy Thorpe – yes possible – but Peter Frampton and hard yakka – no.
In perhaps harder times for 3XY, major artists were promoted over the advertisement for a local sound system company, Northern Electronics of Coburg and the city (Victoria).
